364d246863 fix(tests): infinite recursion in ImagePromptBuilderTest
wp_strip_all_tags mock was aliased to call itself, causing
the PHPUnit process to hang until the runner timed out.
Replace with strip_tags() like other test files.

e60cb83770 fix: guard WP_Error cost access + add missing test constants
- Wrap cost_usd accumulation in is_wp_error() guard so WP_Error
returns from generate_image_a/b don't crash on array access
- Add PRAUTOBLOGGER_DEFAULT_IMAGE_STYLE_SUFFIX to test bootstrap
- Add is_wp_error, sanitize_title, esc_html__ mocks to ImagePipelineTest

5e7fd882bc fix(tests): rewrite ImagePipelineTest to fix three mock issues
- Remove dead logger mock (pipeline uses static Logger::instance(), not injected)
- Add wp_strip_all_tags Brain Monkey stub in setUp (removed from bootstrap)
- Remove willReturn(true) on void log_image_generation mock
- Fix wp_generate_uuid4 mock to use justReturn instead of returnArg

4f13afbb77 fix(tests): resolve Patchwork conflict and WP_Error_Stub issue
- Remove wp_strip_all_tags/sanitize_text_field stubs from bootstrap
  (Brain Monkey manages these via Functions\when() in individual tests;
defining them early triggers Patchwork's DefinedTooEarly error)
- Add WP_Error class stub to bootstrap (class, not function — safe for
Patchwork) so model registry and image pipeline tests can use it
- Replace WP_Error_Stub with standard WP_Error in model registry test

38157f0b41 fix(tests): add wp_strip_all_tags and sanitize_text_field stubs
Image prompt builder uses these WP text-processing functions.
Without stubs, PHPUnit fails with undefined function errors.

76b258bcc3 fix: remove union return types for PHP 7.4 compatibility
Union types (array|WP_Error, int|WP_Error, string|WP_Error) require
PHP 8.0+. Removed return type declarations while keeping @return
docblocks intact for IDE/static analysis support.

f88d752a79 fix: add missing cost tracker methods + guard logger against null wpdb
- Add `would_exceed_budget(float)` to pre-check budget before API calls
- Add `log_image_generation()` for image pipeline cost logging
- Guard Logger::log() against null $wpdb in unit test environments
- Both methods called by image pipeline (commit 1b) but were missing

2e41c3f2f6 feat(images): wire image pipeline into article flow (commit 1b) (#14)
Completes the image + A/B experiment workstream by integrating
image generation into the post publishing pipeline.

New classes:
- class-image-pipeline.php: Orchestrates A/B generation (article-driven
  Image A → featured; source-driven Image B → post meta). Each image
independently fallible; article publishes even if both fail.
- class-image-prompt-builder.php: Synthesizes visual prompts from article
title+content and Reddit source data. Appends CEO-locked 90s infomercial
style suffix. Keeps prompts concise for FLUX.1 quality.
- class-image-media-sideloader.php: Downloads image bytes, creates temp
file, sideloads via media_handle_sideload(), sets alt text and metadata,
  cleans up temp files.

Changes to existing files:
- Publisher.attach_generated_images(): Runs image pipeline post-creation,
  sets _thumbnail_id (Image A) and _prautoblogger_image_b_id (Image B).
Errors logged but don't block post publication.
- Settings: prautoblogger_image_enabled (toggle, default off).

Tests:
- ImagePipelineTest.php: Orchestration, cost tracking, graceful failures.
- ImagePromptBuilderTest.php: Prompt generation, length limits.

Docs:
- ARCHITECTURE.md: New step 6b in data flow, new files in file tree.
- CHANGELOG.md: Commit 1a/1b breakdown.

be5c659999 feat(models): OpenRouter model registry + interface + cron wiring (model-picker commit 1) (#13)
Foundation for the smart model picker. Fetches, normalizes, and caches
the OpenRouter model list (/api/v1/models — free, unauthenticated).
Daily refresh via the existing prautoblogger_daily_generation cron with
12h idempotency. 3-retry exponential backoff on transient failures;
serves last-good option payload when stale-and-fetch-fails.

New files:
- interface-model-registry.php — Phase 3-aware contract (94 lines)
- class-openrouter-model-registry.php — fetch + cache + query (226 lines)
- class-openrouter-model-normalizer.php — raw → standardized (114 lines)

Zero-coupling: no PRAUTOBLOGGER_* constants inside the service classes.
Config injected via constructor. Phase 2 lift into a shared Composer
package requires only namespace rename, zero internal edits.

Cost impact: $0/month (free endpoint, no LLM tokens).

Agent-Session: cowork-2026-04-16-model-picker-commit1

### #14: Reddit RSS replaces PullPush.io (and earlier Reddit OAuth)
Reddit rejected our OAuth API application (April 2026). We initially switched to PullPush.io, but its index was frequently stale or unavailable. Reddit's RSS/Atom feeds (`/r/{sub}/hot.rss`) proved the most reliable option — they work from datacenter IPs where .json gets 403, require no auth, and have no apparent rate limit. The .json endpoints are kept as a fallback for posts and as the sole source for comment data. Each collected item's metadata includes a `data_source` field (`reddit_rss` or `reddit_json`) for auditability.
### #18: OpenRouter model registry — daily refresh, WP option + transient cache, zero-coupling
The admin model picker (v1) needs to list OpenRouter models with pricing and capabilities. We fetch `https://openrouter.ai/api/v1/models` (free, unauthenticated) once daily and store the normalized payload in a WP option fronted by a 24h transient. On stale-and-fetch-fails, we serve last-good + surface a warning. The registry class (`class-openrouter-model-registry.php`) takes all config via constructor (option name, transient name, endpoint URL) — no PRAUTOBLOGGER_* constants inside the class body. Phase 2 lifts it into a shared Composer package with zero internal edits. Phase 3 adds a parallel `Cloudflare_WorkersAI_Model_Registry` behind the same interface. Capability vocabulary: `text→text`, `text+image→text`, `text+audio→text`, `text→image`, `text→audio`, `text→video`, `text→embedding`. Cost: $0/month.
### #16: Image generation via Cloudflare Workers AI (FLUX.1), direct (not via AI Gateway)
The image-generation layer (started 2026-04-15, tracked in `convo/prautoblogger/threads/2026-04-image-pipeline/`) uses FLUX.1 [schnell] on Cloudflare Workers AI as its default model, chosen for its ~$0.0011/MP cost and 2–3 sec latency. FLUX.1 [dev] is a ~4× cost upgrade exposed as a dropdown for specific posts that warrant it. Calls go directly to `https://api.cloudflare.com/client/v4/accounts/{id}/ai/run/@cf/black-forest-labs/...`, *not* through the Cloudflare AI Gateway that we use for OpenRouter — the gateway route to Workers AI currently 403s (pre-existing open issue). The provider lives behind `PRAutoBlogger_Image_Provider_Interface`, so the decision is trivially reversible: switching to a different image API (DALL-E, Replicate, a future AI Gateway route) is a new class implementation plus a one-line swap in the pipeline wiring. Trade-off: we run two different Cloudflare integration paths (gateway for OpenRouter LLMs, direct for Workers AI images) until the gateway route stabilizes — minor cognitive overhead, zero functional downside.

- **Image pipeline integration: wires image generation into article flow** (commit 1b).
Completes the image + Instagram A/B experiment workstream by adding three
orchestration classes that generate and sideload two images per published post.
- `includes/core/class-image-pipeline.php` — Orchestrates A/B image generation:
generates Image A (article-driven prompt) as featured image and Image B
(source-driven prompt) stored in post meta `_prautoblogger_image_b_id`. Each
image is independently fallible; article publishes even if both fail.
- `includes/core/class-image-prompt-builder.php` — Synthesizes visual prompts
from article title + first paragraph (for Image A) and Reddit thread title +
top comment (for Image B). Both prompts append the CEO-locked 90s infomercial
style suffix from settings. Prompts kept concise (under 200 words) for FLUX.1
generation quality.
- `includes/core/class-image-media-sideloader.php` — Downloads generated image
bytes, creates temporary file, imports via `media_handle_sideload()`, sets alt
text and generation metadata (`_prautoblogger_image_*`), cleans up temp files.
- Settings: `prautoblogger_image_enabled` (toggle, default off) — allows users to
enable/disable image generation after providing Cloudflare credentials.
- `PRAutoBlogger_Publisher::attach_generated_images()` — New private method that
runs the image pipeline post-creation and sets `_thumbnail_id` (Image A) and
`_prautoblogger_image_b_id` (Image B) post meta. Errors are logged but do not
block post publication.
- Tests: `tests/unit/Core/ImagePipelineTest.php` (orchestration, cost tracking,
graceful failure modes), `tests/unit/Core/ImagePromptBuilderTest.php` (prompt
generation from various article/source shapes, length limits).
- ARCHITECTURE.md: added new image pipeline step (6b) to data flow, three new files
to core/ section of file tree.
- **OpenRouter model registry (model-picker commit 1).** Foundation for the
smart model picker: fetches, normalizes, and caches the OpenRouter model
list (`/api/v1/models` — free, unauthenticated). Daily refresh via the
existing `prautoblogger_daily_generation` cron hook with 12h idempotency.

- `includes/services/class-openrouter-model-registry.php` — fetch + cache + query.
- `includes/services/class-openrouter-model-normalizer.php` — raw → standardized shape.
- Capability vocabulary: `text→text`, `text+image→text`, `text→embedding`, etc.
- Zero-coupling: no PRAUTOBLOGGER_* constants inside the class — Phase 2 lift
into a shared Composer package requires only a namespace rename.
- Cost impact: $0/month (free endpoint, no LLM tokens).
- **Image provider: Cloudflare Workers AI (FLUX.1 family).** Ships the provider, its
pricing + validator helpers, four new settings fields in a new "Images"
admin section, and unit tests with mocked HTTP. Nothing calls the provider
yet from the article pipeline — integration lands in commit 1b.

* - Never throw on public read methods — empty arrays are acceptable fallbacks.
* - Log refresh failures via PRAutoBlogger_Logger.

* (commit 3), daily cron via the main plugin loader.
* Dependencies: None at interface level — implementations wrap an HTTP API.
